I have also used social media for advertising events, gorilla marketing, and basically experimenting with how people react, or do not react to you, as a person.
Now that I have been running R U Marketing for a couple of years, and allot of the systems and procedures are documented and we have a loyal customer base, I am looking for ways to communicate what we can do, what we do well, and what we want to do for our existing customers, so that potential customers can see how we work.
To accomplish this I am reading allot! for example this blog, which provides a really good argument on how Twitter and other social medial can be relevant to SME (Small and Medium Enterprises).
